Media, Religion, and Community Service Day showed our YLC leaders a side to Clarksville they might never otherwise see. We were able to meet local religious leaders (LC alums!) then tour First Presbyterian, 5 Star Media, Habitat for Humanity, and Loaves and Fishes.
Thanks to Clarksville Fencing for breakfast and Loaves and Fishes for our lunch in unfamiliar territory. Dr. Greg Glover, Pastor Josh Young, and Dr. Ihab Habib gave us very interesting comments on significant parts of Clarksville spirituality before Rob Selkow (Habitat for Humanity) and Karen Sorenson (Loaves and Fishes) showed the love our community has for its members.
We got a full overview on media operations at 5 Star and local news reporting from a panel arranged by Chris Smith (ClarksvilleNOW). Thanks to additional panelists Nikki McGee from WKRN, repeat friend Cheri Reeves from Main Street Media and Jimmy Settle from the Leaf-Chronicle. Ryan Ploeckelman (5 Star Media) closed out the the day by educating the group on Podcasting and the direction of media in the future.
We give thanks to Erin Yow for her servant leadership (AGAIN), First Presbyterian for the use of their historically significant facilities, and the Customs House Museum for providing a great venue for our media panel. Certainly not least is our very generous YLC sponsors Jim and Dottie Mann, making these great youths the leaders of tomorrow.
